Program characteristics

The ever fastest changes taking place in modern society and the human experience of stress associated with them, mean that the role of clinical psychologist and psychotherapist will be growing in future years. The demand for specialists with a clinical profile for the purposes of prevention, diagnosis and therapy of health disorders is constantly increasing in the labor market. This graduate program prepares students to become specialists, who are able to take knowledge-based decisions and to implement them effectively.

Knowledge and skills
carry out analyses of epistemological and philosophical assumptions underlying various psychological theories and disciplines related to psychology
select and make appropriate use of methods and tools, including ICT, to address new or atypical psychological problems of a diagnostic, therapeutic and research nature
conduct a psychological analysis of human personality and behavior, with scientifically proven methods, taking into account their various applications
select advanced diagnostic tools and methods suitable for a given diagnostic problem, conduct a psychological examination using these tools and interpret the results, for preventive, counselling and therapeutic purposes
creatively and appropriately modify existing or develop new tools and methods needed to solve new or atypical problems of diagnostic, therapeutic and research nature in psychology
express pro-social attitude towards persons presenting special needs for psychological assistance and support, manifested as readiness and ability to conduct a psychological interview
assess responsibly the limits of their professional competence and understand the need to consult other experts when it is difficult to solve professional problems individually
the biological processes and structures underlying human behavior and mental processes, understand the importance of the genotype, nervous and hormonal system in determining the norm and pathology of mental healt
mental health disorders, their mechanisms, methods of diagnosis and principles of psychological help
the specific nature of the diagnostic process in psychology, different approaches and tools used in psychological diagnosis
personality theories and various personality mechanisms regulating human behavior
