Program characteristics

The general undergraduate program in Psychology is designed to give the students a solid basis into the many aspects characterizing the professional activity of psychologists in modern society. The program combines a set of fundamental obligatory courses, which form the theoretical background of every psychologist, with a relatively large set of elective courses. Thanks to that, students will gain practical skills they can already use in the labor market or else they will have the possibility to focus their interests towards more specialized graduate studies.

Knowledge and skills
the biological processes and structures underlying human behavior and mental processes, understand the importance of the genotype, nervous and hormonal system in determining the norm and pathology of mental health
social relations, various social phenomena, processes and mechanisms regulating human behavior in social groups
the specific nature of the diagnostic process in psychology, different approaches and tools used in psychological diagnosis
mental health disorders,their mechanisms, methods of diagnosis and principles of psychological help
fundamental dilemmas of modern civilization and the functions of psychology in describing, explaining and solving them
use theoretical knowledge of psychology and related disciplines to analyze complex, new or atypical diagnostic, therapeutic and research problems in psychology
make a proper selection and critically analyze sources of psychological knowledge and creatively interpret the information derived in order to effectively solve new or atypical diagnostic, therapeutic and research problems in psychology
conduct a psychological analysis of human personality and behavior, with scientifically proven methods, taking into account their various applications
creatively and appropriately modify existing or develop new tools and methods needed to solve new or atypical problems of diagnostic, therapeutic and research nature in psychology
select advanced diagnostic tools and methods suitable for a given diagnostic problem, conduct a psychological examination using these tools and interpret the results, for preventive, counselling and therapeutic purposes
